Medhu Vada - Lentil doughnuts with chutney

Meena’s is a nice addition to the handful of Indian restaurants in Nashua, not just because it’s the only entirely vegetarian one, but it specializes in South Indian cuisine, which is a welcome departure from the usual $7.99 buffets with slurries of chickpeas and oil congealing in steam trays (I mean, I love that too, but it’s nice to change things up!) There might be some ghee/raita up in some of this stuff, so be sure to ask, but they are knowledgeable and helpful and will totally hook you up with vegan deliciousness. They will also do iced black unsweetened Masala Chai, which I didn’t even think was possible, and it is so good, just the perfect foil for slaughtering massive plates of food.

Tomato Attu - a giant pancake made of chickpea flour, tomatoes, ginger and chiles

South Indian to me means dosas. All kinds of dosas made from all kinds of fantastical stuff. Cream of wheat, sourdough, chickpea flour, ground up lentils. In fact, if you are low-carbing it up, I imagine a chickpea or lentil based dosa would not mess up your steez entirely. Plus, most of the dosas are 2+ feet long, and it’s really fun to eat food the size of a domestic cat sometimes. The girl in the photo below housed that thing all by herself, because she is a hero.
